Applied decoration in the center—cutting out and rolling into "seeds" (literally) hundred of pieces of clay—makes this one of my so-called "therapy" sunflowers, as in, is the process therapeutic or do I need therapy when I'm done? Although this is one of the most labor intensive pieces in my repertoire, the final effect is magnificent, recalling the complex centers of favorite sunflower cultivars, including 'Russian Giant'.
